All this does not work in windows 8 or Given all the problems with users trying to find the correct driver, the page really should be corrected and edited to clarify which Gen version the drivers are for, otherwise, it becomes a total stab in the dark where we’re all downloading, troubleshooting, wasting lots of audii, possibly messing things up, trying to get the MobilePre to work.

One has to search elsewhere to learn that the earlier model call it Gen 1 or Mk 1 is not supported by Avid; however, it would have been easy to write that here the above link and additionally, where one can go to get previous driver versions for it.
And just double-checking, the operating system is OS X
