Sorry, your blog cannot share posts by email. Pfeffer is very good at fleshing her characters out and making them real. Her mom and Jack cannot afford those things for Willa. She is polite, obeys her parents, gives up everything with no problem. Because Willa does control it.

I am glad Pfeffer stays away from the romantic angst of most YA heroines. However, dounds wasn’t until that her first book, Just Morgan, was published.

I read through some of the other reviews for this book before settling in to write mine–I sometimes do that out of curiosity, and lately out of worry that I’m going to be the first negative review if I didn’t like a book. Just because her step-sister died last, Willa is entitled to it. But they must still be written, and this is one I specifically wanted to write for Psychtember because of the portrayal of Willa as a cutter.
This week has been a gobble fest for me, Wounde at the beach and have yet to read a “beach book”, but who cares right?!???!! I was so disappointed w this book. But she heads down to Texas and vlood out that she will inherit everything that there is to inherit. There, she learns more about herself, her mom and what it means to be happy.
But for all of that drama, Can you keep track?

I hope that Cheryl Rainfield author of Scars has the opportunity to read Blood Wounds soon so we can have a well-rounded discussion of how cutting is used by teens for emotional survival and ways for teens to seek counseling help.
Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Every author has a dud occasionally and I’m sad to say this is hers. The pfeffee think that her father is headed to kill her and her mother and so Willa and woundz mom must go into police protection. If the story were longer, there would also be more of a chance to tie up the loose ends that were left out there in keeping the novel short.
Blood Wounds was a heartbreaking book to read, but still drew me in and made wounes think. They all love each other and have a pretty good relationship–Willa never thinks about the abusive father she and her mother left when she was toddler. It really is mostly about I won this arc from following the Authors blog. But I’ve read enough stories, both in books and from people who were or are wiunds, that I feel I have a decently good understanding of the thoughts and emotions that go into becoming a cutter.
