I found it challenging that she chose to reintroduce the characters many times over. Didn’t finish cause it start znd get boring and when you fall asleep on a book it’s time to stop it!

BMF: The Rise and Fall of Big Meech and the Black Mafia Family

Poorly written, not an attention getter, repetitive. I had watched a documentary about the BMF, but there is only so much that could be told in a short period of time. Overly repetitive and boring. There is nothing personable about this narration. The most that could be concluded was that Meech acted in self-defense, if he acted at all.

It was an organization that would go beyond the boundaries of Detroit to include Missouri, Georgia, and California. Clearly, this is a matter of taste rather than subjective judgement but I found the prose to be at its best eise describing some of the complex transactions and networks involved in the operation of the business rather than when describing, presumably imagined, scenes of lavish opulence.

Could of easily been shortened by pages. Utilizing a high-stakes wiretap operation, the feds inched toward their goal of destroying the Flenory’s empire and ending the reign of a crew suspected in the sale of thousands of kilos of cocaine — and a half-dozen unsolved murders.

BMF were the epitome of a fast paced, lawless vig intoxicating lifestyle that was synonymous with a style of Southern gangster rap that exploded into global significance around the same time the gang reached its zenith. It seems almost like a caricature of mefch black drug gang that BMF were trafficking drugs and money in private jets, limos and hummers; why on earth not use something a bit lower key!?!

Getting to really enjoy the characters in this series and the problems that occur. View all 3 comments. I also found the chapters to be disjointed.

After a decade in the drug game, the Flenorys had it all–a fleet of Oc, Bentleys and Ferraris, a man workforce operating in six states, and an estimated In gmf early s, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and his brother, Terry “Southwest T,” rose up from the slums of Detroit to build one of the largest cocaine empires in American history: Jul 24, Dolapo rated meceh it was ok. I really recommend this book for any reader that wants to learn more about BMF and how their drug trade entagled so many people and caused so much violence but at the same time biy millions of dollars.

Thanks for telling us about the problem. Open Preview See a Problem? I would have preferred to hear more from those involved and less from what is on the record. To Big Meech and his crew, to residents of Buckhead, and to other concerned Atlantans, the Chaos investigation appeared to be a battle the authorities had lost. Well, some may speculate on that because they raked in billions of dollars, which I’m sure is tucked away neatly somewhere. They associated with some of the biggest names in rap music and the celebrity world.

BMF: The Rise and Fall of Big Meech and the Black Mafia Family | Reading Length

It was something called, formidably enough, the Black Mafia Family. I would just hope that anyone reading this, especially young people who are always out here chasing the dollar, that viewing the lives of the Flenory brothers might teach them something.

It was amazing to learn that the Flenory brothers started small and blew up in not only Atlanta but L. So he has no choice but to look down at me. This book was recommended by a friend and as soon as I finished reading it I passed my copy on to someone else who wanted to read it Return to Book Page. Like its title, it told the rise and fall of Big Meech and the Black Mafia Family in a literary documentary style.

Mara Shalhoup did a very poor job of allowing the story to flow. The foolishness displayed by these men was clearly seen in how they conducted business and tgeir belief in their street code haha.
